This Privacy Policy explains how Selling.uz collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our website and our Android app. By using Selling.uz, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Introduction / Who We Are
Selling.uz is an online classifieds marketplace for Uzbekistan, where individuals and businesses can post and browse listings to buy and sell goods and services. This Privacy Policy applies to our website at selling.uz and to our native Android application (together, the "Service").
In this policy, "Selling.uz", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the Service. "You" refers to any person who visits, registers for, or otherwise uses the Service. We are the controller responsible for the personal data we process in connection with the Service.
Please read this policy carefully so you understand what information we handle and the choices available to you. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service. If you have questions, you can reach us at support@selling.uz.
2. Information You Provide to Us
When you create an account, we collect your full name, email address, and phone number. You either set a password or sign in with Google. If you use Google Sign-In, Google provides us with your Google account identifier, email address, and name so we can create and authenticate your account.
When you post a listing, we collect the information you enter, including the title, description, category attributes, price, photos, and the location you choose for the ad. The chosen location consists of geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) and the address text associated with it. You may also upload a profile photo to your account.
We also collect the content of communications you send to us, such as support requests, reports about listings or users, and any feedback you provide. Please do not include sensitive personal information in listings or messages unless it is necessary, as listing details are visible to other users.
3. Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, device identifiers, browser type, operating system, and app version. We also collect log data and usage information such as the pages and listings you view, your searches, the filters you apply, and your interactions with features of the Service.
On the website, we use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, as described in the "Cookies and Similar Technologies" section. In the Android app, similar identifiers and local storage are used for the same purposes.
This information helps us operate and secure the Service, understand how it is used, detect and prevent fraud and abuse, and improve performance and reliability.
4. Location Information
On the Android app, with your permission, we may access your device's precise location (GPS) to power "near me" search and to help you set the location of an ad you are posting. We request location access only when you use a feature that needs it, and you can grant or deny this permission.
Separately, when you post a listing you choose a location for that ad (coordinates and address text). The location you assign to a listing is stored as part of the listing and may be shown to other users, for example on a map, to help buyers find items near them.
If you do not grant precise location permission, you can still use the Service by entering or selecting a location manually. You can change or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
5. Camera and Photos
On the Android app, we request access to your camera and your photo library (storage) so you can add photos to your listings and set a profile photo. We use this access only to let you capture or select the specific images you choose to upload.
We do not scan, browse, or upload other files from your device. Only the photos you actively select or capture are sent to us and associated with your listing or profile.
You can grant or deny camera and photo access, and you can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. If you deny access, you will not be able to add photos through those features.
6. App Permissions
The Android app may ask for the following permissions, each used only for the stated purpose. Location is used for "near me" search and to set an ad's location. Camera is used to capture photos for listings and your profile. Photos/Storage is used to select existing images to upload. Notifications are used to send you push notifications about your account, listings, and relevant activity.
All of these permissions are optional. The app will request them only when needed for a feature you are using, and you can grant or decline each one.
You can review and revoke any permission at any time through your Android device settings. Revoking a permission may limit the related feature but will not prevent you from using the rest of the Service.
7. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate and provide the marketplace: to create and manage your account, publish and display your listings, run search and "near me" features, and connect buyers and sellers by making the necessary contact details available as described below.
We also use your information to send transactional and service communications (including email OTP verification codes and notifications), to send push notifications you have enabled, to detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse, and to keep the Service safe and secure.
We use device and usage data, including Firebase Analytics, to understand how the Service is used, to measure and improve performance, and to develop new features. We also use information as needed to comply with legal obligations and to enforce our Terms of Service.
8. Push Notifications
We send push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a service provided by Google. To deliver these notifications, a device push token is generated and stored so we can send messages to your device.
We use push notifications to inform you about activity related to your account and listings and other relevant updates from the Service.
You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings, or in the app's notification settings where available. Disabling notifications stops push messages but does not affect other parts of the Service.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
On the website, we use cookies and local storage to operate the Service. In particular, an HttpOnly session cookie is used to keep you signed in securely. We also use storage to remember preferences and to support core functionality.
Some technologies support analytics and help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. In the Android app, similar local storage and identifiers are used for equivalent purposes.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Please note that disabling certain cookies, such as the session cookie, may prevent you from staying signed in or using some features.
10. How We Share Information
Your public listing details and the seller's contact phone number are visible to other users so that buyers can view your items and contact you. Please consider what you include in listings, as this information is publicly accessible.
We share information with trusted service providers and SDK providers who process data on our behalf, including Google (Google Sign-In for authentication, Google Maps for maps, Firebase Analytics for analytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications), Yandex (for geocoding), our hosting provider, and our email provider. These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us.
We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Selling.uz, our users, or the public, including for fraud prevention and safety. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal data.
11. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service relies on third-party services such as Google (Sign-In, Maps, Analytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Yandex (geocoding). These providers process certain data according to their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
The Service may also contain links to third-party websites or services, or display content that interacts with third parties such as maps. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties.
When you leave the Service or interact with a third-party feature, the third party's terms and privacy policy govern that interaction.
12. Data Retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Listings and associated data are retained while they are live and for a reasonable period afterward to support your account history and the operation of the marketplace.
When you delete your account or specific content, we delete or anonymize the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our agreements.
Device and usage data, including analytics data, is retained for the period needed for the purposes described in this policy and is then deleted or aggregated.
13. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your account and associated personal data directly from the app or your profile settings. You can also request deletion by emailing us at support@selling.uz from the email address associated with your account.
When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data, including your profile information, profile photo, and your listings (including listing photos, descriptions, prices, and chosen locations), so they are no longer publicly available.
We may retain a limited amount of information where required by law or for legitimate purposes such as resolving disputes, preventing fraud and abuse, complying with legal and tax obligations, and enforcing our Terms. Such retained data is kept only for as long as necessary and is then deleted.
14. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, secure session handling (such as HttpOnly cookies), and access controls. We also use email-based one-time codes (OTP) to help verify accounts.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You play an important role too: keep your password confidential, use a strong and unique password, and notify us promptly at support@selling.uz if you believe your account has been compromised.
If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal data, we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
15. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to use Selling.uz.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe that a person under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@selling.uz so we can take appropriate action.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18 without proper authorization, we will delete it.
16. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to delete your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (for example, location, camera, photos, or notifications permissions).
You can exercise many of these choices directly in the Service: update your profile and listings, manage device permissions in your Android settings, control cookies in your browser, and delete your account from the app or profile.

17. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. For example, providers such as Google and Yandex may process data on servers located outside Uzbekistan.
Where information is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this policy and applicable law.
By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such locations as part of delivering the Service.
18. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice where appropriate, such as through the Service or by email.
Your continued use of the Service after an updated policy takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
